The beautiful Snake River runs over 300 kilometers through the Yukon’s northern mountains. Isolated and remote, from its headwaters at Duo Lakes it flows north along the NWT’s border. An assortment of fun, grade I and II rapids stretch between gravel bars decorated with fireweed. The pace of the trip allows for numerous day hikes to fantastic visas. Runnable rapids and remote wilderness make this a treat for any keen paddler.

The Wind River is one of northern Yukon’s true jewels. Starting at McCluskey Lake, there is a short portage to the Wind. The upper section has no mighty rapids, but there is definitely some fun maneuvering in its crystal clear waters. Sharp bends and converging currents allow for some easy to intermediate whitewater, often braided with gravelly shoals. Hiking is great, since the alpine ridges and peaks are close to the river. This is an excellent trip for the novice to intermediate whitewater paddler.
